    1. Hi, John.

I found my way to your site when I was searching the web for “2020 appalachian trail hang tag”. My son will be finishing his 2020 SOBO thru hike of the AT right around New Year. I see you postponed your hike to 2021, but it looks like you were able to register your 2020 intention before the ATC shut down registration and “sanctioning” of thru hikes. My son graduated college in May and thought his plan to hike the AT before starting his professional life was off… then, at the last moment, Maine decided to open Baxter State Park and Katahdin, and he decided to “just start and see how it goes”. Well, it’s been one heck of an adventure… and I’ve been searching to see if I can find anyone, like you, who got hands on a 2020 hang tag but were unable to use it. You are the only person I’ve been able to identify. I hope this request isn’t inappropriate, but I wanted to reach out to see if you would consider selling me your tag? I would love to surprise my son with one when he finishes in a few weeks. I understand if you don’t want to part with it… but I just had to ask. (I also DM’ed you on Instagram… please reply there if you are interested in discussing… and thank you for any consideration you give this).
      Kind regards.

      1. Hi,
As I’ve mentioned in your Email, I do not want to sell or give away my 2020 thru hike tag. Even though I did not start this year, I still had a registered thru hike in the books with the ATC. I really find it hard to believe that the ATC will not give out a thru hike tag, especially this year. They gave them out in the beginning and then because of Covid, they won’t give them out any more? That is not cool on their part and I guess, makes my tag very valuable. That being said, I will proudly display it from my pack in 2021. It sounds like they may not issue tags in 2021 as well so my 2020 and 2021 Registration number will be on it.
Kind Regards and I’m so sorry but I just cannot sell it,
        John
