Hey! It’s been awhile. Terry ran across this photo recently. It was taken back in the 1970’s. South Down Plantation is located on the outskirts of Houma, Louisiana.
About that time they began tearing out the old sugar mill, and thereafter the workers quarters were demolished as well.
Several of those old shacks dated back to the time of the Civil War. This line of privies was where the back yards of the houses had been, on this particular street. One of the old houses still stood in the back ground.
